Denver Dominates in Home Court Victory
Los Angeles, CA – October 24, 2023
The Denver Nuggets have taken an early lead in their Western Conference semifinal series against the Los Angeles Lakers, winning Game 1 with a dominant 122-101 performance at Ball Arena. Nikola Jokić led the way for the Nuggets with 30 points, 14 rebounds, and 7 assists. The reigning NBA MVP was unstoppable in the paint, scoring at will against the Lakers' defense. Jamal Murray added 25 points and 6 assists, while Aaron Gordon chipped in with 18 points. The Lakers, who were coming off a hard-fought seven-game series against the Sacramento Kings, struggled to keep pace with the Nuggets' high-energy offense. LeBron James led the Lakers with 29 points, but shot just 10-of-27 from the field. Anthony Davis added 17 points, but was hampered by foul trouble throughout the game. The Nuggets dominated the rebounding battle, outrebounding the Lakers 54-33. They also shot a better percentage from the field (49.2% to 38.7%) and from three-point range (40% to 28.6%). Game 2 of the series is scheduled for Thursday, October 26th at Ball Arena. The Nuggets will look to take a commanding 2-0 lead, while the Lakers will be desperate to even the series and avoid falling into a 0-2 hole.
